    Helping Today. Helping Tomorrow

The Asisat Oshoala Academy offers a variety of programs designed for the holistic development of young girls, crucial for those seeking opportunities for girls in sports and education:

    Football and Life Skills Education:

This is a core program that delivers comprehensive football training for girls combined with life skills education. Weekly, the girls go through a structured soccer training sessions designed to build technical skills, teamwork, and discipline. These sessions are attended by 30 dedicated participants, who are guided through progressive drills and exercises tailored to their development level. The consistent training not only enhances their athletic performance but also fosters confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community

The life skills component features dynamic leadership and mentoring sessions led by both current and former football stars, as well as distinguished professionals from diverse career paths. Legendary goalkeepers for the Super Eagles and the Super Falcons, late Peter Rufai and Ann Chiejine, former Super Falcons striker and captain, Desire Oparanozie, former Nigerian international, Peter Ijeh, and his daughter, AC Milan forward, Evelyn Ijeh, Executive Director of the Youth Empowerment Foundation, Mrs. Tolu Osoba, and former Chairman, Lagos State Sports Council Alhaji Agboola Dabiri are some of the eminent persons who have engaged the girls in meaningful conversations about personal growth, leadership development, and navigating career pathways—whether within the world of football or beyond. Through storytelling, guidance, and real-world insights, they inspire the girls to dream boldly, lead with purpose, and pursue excellence in every aspect of their lives

    Community Outreach Events (SHE Plays):

(SHE Plays): These events are designed to reach additional girls from the community. In 2023, SHE Plays community outreaches reached 641 additional girls. These events also involved 62 Physical Education teachers and 29 other local coaches who were exposed to the AOA curriculum.
School Project: This transformative initiative, undertaken in partnership with the New Era Foundation (founded by Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Remi Tinubu), empowers girls through sports education, leadership, and life skills education by partnering with schools. This program, which began in April 2024, saw 121 girls consistently participate in all six sessions, with over 2,800 others attending to date. This program has significantly increased participants' confidence (100% reported feeling more confident) and awareness of rights (100% knew where to report gender-based violence).

    Professional Pathways

The Asisat Oshoala Academy strives to create clear pathways for its graduates to pursue professional football careers for women through partnerships with clubs, scouts, and agents, and by offering scholarship opportunities, solidifying its role as a highly-rated football academy for girls in Nigeria. Two of our players, Janet Akekoromowei, who is also a Nigerian U20 international, and Jumoke Abina, have been signed to Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) clubs; and another, Barakat Alebiosu. was called up to represent Nigeria at the 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) in China.

    Vocational Skills Training

Beyond sports, the Asisat Oshoala Academy aims to equip girls in and outside the Academy with practical skills for their future. In partnership with the Lagos State Vocational Skill Acquisition Institute, this initiative focuses on a number of skills, including barbing, hairdressing, fashion design, tailoring, computer education, social media management, photography, and leather and shoe making. So far, five (5) players and more than 20 other girls outside the Academy have received scholarships to vocational institutes and have successfully graduated as professionals.

    Infrastructure Development

A long-term objective is to build a state-of-the-art camp with residential and sporting facilities, securing funding through sponsorships and grants, and designing modern training fields, dormitories, and classrooms. This demonstrates a commitment to sustainable girls' football development.
